About us
A modern jewellery brand built on architecture, heritage, and light.
Leil was founded in 2021 by Rebecca and Elias El Morr in Sydney, Australia. The name refers to the quality of light between sunset and dusk, a moment of transformation and a pause before night. We make fine jewellery rooted in modular design and utilitarian function, with pieces engineered for daily wear, designed for decades, and shaped by how they hold light and how they are built.
Trained in architecture, grounded in craft.
Rebecca El Morr spent more than a decade designing bespoke jewellery before founding Leil. Her training in architecture informs every decision, from proportion and structure to the way light moves across a surface through the day. Her family shaped that sensibility. Her grandfather fabricated planes and built replica cars by hand, her uncle was a jeweller, and her grandmother was a dressmaker. Craft in her family was generational, practical, and present.
Growing up in a Lebanese household, Rebecca was surrounded by women who wore jewellery daily, as an act of elegance and defiance. Gold was given at birth, at marriage, and at moments of transition: something substantial and resilient, something to keep. Leil is the synthesis of this heritage: Middle Eastern tradition, Australian ease, and an architect’s eye for how form serves function.
Global perspective, local presence
Elias brings a background in international relations and commercial strategy to Leil. His experience across industries and cultures shapes how the brand works with its clients, on the understanding that jewellery holds meaning across borders and that trust is built through transparency.
Designing against opacity
The jewellery industry has a transparency problem. Sourcing is obscured, and value is inflated where buyers have little way to judge it. We started Leil to work differently. We make in Australia for quality control and a supply chain we can see end to end. We use lab-grown and ethically sourced natural diamonds, and we engineer every piece to last. Good design solves problems, and Leil is our response.
