Returns, Exchanges and Care

We make our pieces to be worn for years, and we want you to feel certain about the one you choose. If something is not right, here is how we handle it.

Change of mind

We offer a credit note or exchange within 14 days of dispatch. We do not offer refunds for a change of mind, which is standard across fine jewellery, because each piece is made to order and returned to saleable condition before it can find another home. Your credit note holds its full value for three years and can be used online or in person.

Your piece is eligible if it is unworn and undamaged, returned in its original packaging with its original certificate, has not been repaired by a third-party jeweller, and reaches us within the 14 days. These terms apply across all Leil fine jewellery, including rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.

Bespoke pieces are made to your specifications and sit outside this policy, so please contact us, and we will help where we can.

Engagement rings and diamonds

We offer a credit note or exchange on an engagement ring or diamond within 14 days of dispatch. The piece is eligible if it is unworn and undamaged, and is returned with its original packaging and certificate. A lost certificate incurs a replacement fee, so please keep it with the piece.

Manufacturing fault

If a fault is in the making of a piece, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. Our jeweller assesses the piece to confirm the fault is in the manufacture and not the result of wear and tear, provided it has not been repaired by a third-party jeweller. This sits alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, set out below.

Lifetime repair

Every Leil piece includes a lifetime repair policy covering its structural integrity under normal wear. Reasonable wear is the life a piece is built for: worn daily, at work, through cooking and washing up, travelling, sleeping. It does not extend to activities that put a piece under stress it was not made for, such as lifting heavy weights at the gym, where the load on a band far exceeds anything ordinary wear applies. Our jeweller assesses each piece and will tell you which category it falls into before any work begins. A repair covered by this policy is complimentary, and where damage sits outside it, we quote the work first and only proceed once you agree.

Yearly care

Every Leil piece is eligible for complimentary steam cleaning and a claw check once a year, for its lifetime. Gold picks up fine surface marks with daily wear, and a yearly clean returns the finish while our jeweller checks the claws and settings, which is often how a loose stone is caught before it is lost.

What these guarantees do not cover

Our care guarantees cover the making of a piece and its life under normal wear. They do not cover damage caused by a third-party jeweller, by neglect, or by misuse, which is consistent with standard jewellery care terms. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are separate and are set out below.

How a return or exchange works

Email hello@leil.com.au to start your return, with your order number. For a change of mind, return shipping is complimentary within Australia, and we assess international shipping costs by location. Your piece stays your responsibility until it reaches us, so we recommend a tracked and insured service. Once it arrives and its condition is assessed, we issue your credit note or exchange within seven days.

How a fault or repair works

Email hello@leil.com.au to start the process. Shipping is complimentary on pieces returned for a fault within Australia, and we assess international orders by location. Our jeweller then assesses the piece. If the damage is due to wear and tear, we will let you know and recommend next steps. If it is a manufacturing fault, we repair or replace the piece and cover the shipping costs.

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

These terms operate alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and do not replace them. Our pieces come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. For a major failure you are entitled to a replacement or refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss. For a minor failure, we are entitled to repair the piece within a reasonable time. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.

If anything here is unclear, email hello@leil.com.au and one of our team members will help you.
