The science
A lab-grown diamond begins the same way a natural diamond does, with carbon. Using advanced technology, we reproduce the conditions under which diamonds form in the earth, extreme pressure and heat, in a controlled laboratory environment. The result is a diamond that is chemically, optically, and physically identical to its mined counterpart. Lab-grown diamonds are graded on the same standards of cut, colour, clarity, and carat, and they show the same brilliance, fire, and scintillation. To the eye, including a trained eye, there is no visible difference.
Ethics
The natural diamond trade has long struggled with transparency. Despite certification schemes like the Kimberley Process, tracing a stone’s path from mine to market remains difficult, and the human costs of extraction are significant and often obscured. Lab-grown diamonds offer a more transparent alternative. The supply chain is shorter and can be traced end to end, so you can know where a stone came from and how it was made. For clients who value that clarity, it is something the mined trade struggles to provide.

The possibilities: colour
One of the most compelling aspects of lab-grown diamonds is the ability to grow stones in specific colours. Colourless diamonds remain popular, and we can also commission stones in soft pink, warm champagne, deeper cognac, yellow, blue, green, and other hues, tones that would be exceptionally rare and expensive in mined diamonds. Colour is achieved through the controlled introduction of trace elements during growth, so the result is consistent, intentional, and tailored to you. The possibilities: shape and cut
Beyond colour, lab-grown diamonds can be cut to precise specifications. Standard cuts such as round brilliant, oval, emerald, and cushion remain available, and we also work with specialist cutters on bespoke and unusual shapes: elongated ovals, old-mine inspired cuts, lozenges, spikes, kites, and geometric forms that suit a particular design. Cut proportions significantly affect how a diamond performs in light, so we pay close attention to these details, selecting or commissioning stones optimised for brilliance and fire in real-world conditions: daylight, movement, and varied lighting, the way a diamond is actually seen.

The possibilities: size and value
Lab-grown diamonds are more accessible than their mined equivalents at comparable quality grades, which opens up choices. You might choose a larger stone within the same budget, or the same size stone with the investment redirected toward design complexity, additional pieces, or custom growing. Accessibility also changes how diamonds can be worn. When the barrier is lower, diamonds move from occasion-only pieces into daily wear: huggies with diamond accents, bands with stones set into the profile, signets with a single diamond centred in the bezel. Precious materials become part of everyday life.
